Our history is rich and varied, and our journey is one of the reasons we've become Rutherford's premier supplier of concrete and aggregate.
It all began back in 1950 when husband and wife team Bernard (Bernie) and Nona Kauter ran an operation supplying 90% of the gravel requirements for the Hexham Bridge construction. At the time, there were only a few quarries in the Maitland area, so Bernie became one of the major and reputable gravel suppliers to the building industry.
As the construction industry grew and evolved, the need for new products emerged. Seizing this opportunity in 1965, Bernie and Nona founded Maitland Ready Mixed Concrete Pty Ltd. Purchasing 8 acres of land close to the New England Highway at Rutherford; they produced ready mixed concrete, blocks, pavers, and sands and gravels. This wide range of concrete and aggregate supplies allowed the business to flourish, making Maitland Ready Mixed Concrete a major source of concrete supplies to the local and broader Hunter Valley area.
Bernie continued to run the family business until his death in 1998, and following the passing of our Managing Director Nona in 2001, Bernie's two sons, Stephen, and Paul took the helm.
Since 2001 and under the direction of Stephen and Paul, Maitland Ready Mixed Concrete Pty Ltd has grown from strength to strength. The production and logistics operations of the business have undergone significant upgrading, and production has more than doubled.

We supply and deliver premium-quality concrete supplies and aggregates to a diverse client base, including corporate, council, trade, and DIY customers. Maitland Ready Mixed Concrete Pty Ltd is well known in the area for its variety of exposed concrete types. Two of the newest products available – concrete timber look-alike sleepers and Burly Blocks – are extremely popular within the construction industry.
